Heel Pain

Heel pain is a common problem we treat at Upstate Footcare. Often, patients complain of a sharp pain at the bottom of the heel. This is usually due to a stretching of the plantar fascia, a condition known as plantar fasciitis.

Heel pain can be caused by:

  • Trauma
  • Overexertion
  • Ill-fitting shoes
  • Poor biomechanics

Conservative Treatment for heel pain includes:

  • Icing
  • Stretching
  • Wrapping
  • Anti-inflammatories
  • Cortisone Injections

Once the symptoms are managed, custom orthotics are created specifically for your foot to relieve pressure. Shockwave therapy may also be recommended.
